Indonesia Traditional Games

Now, many children play the modern games like online games and many others. Of course, it caused by the new era of technology. But the modern games only used by middle to upper class families.

Indonesia has many traditional games, not expensive and fun like the modern games with the high technology.

The traditional games usually played by the children that lived at the countryside, but some of the children that lived at the city still played it. These are some of the traditional games from Indonesia.

Kelereng / Gundu

1. Kelereng / Gundu

    At the western kelereng known as marbles. In Indonesia the most popular version that usually played by the children is drawn a small circle on the ground and put in one of their marbles in the circle. Each player get turn to knock marble in the drawn circle until it rest outside the drawn circle using other marble.

Gasing / Gangsing

2.Gangsing / Gasing

   This toy made from bamboo. The boys usually played it by try to knock down the opponents gasing out of the designated circle. 

Bekel

3. Bekel

    This game usually played by the Indonesian girls. Bekel played by bounce the ball once and take one of the biji bekel without disturbing other biji bekel.

4. Layang - layang

Layang - Layang

    This toys known as kite. This made from bamboo and paper. Many boys play this toys when it's windy and usually they make the kite by theirselves.

Congklak / Dakon

5. Congklak / Dakon

    This game played with 98 small markers such as shell or beads. This game quite challenging strategic game and takes a lot of practice before become skilled.

This is only some of the traditional games, there are many more traditional games. But the most important is how people can keep the traditional games exist in this world.

     Rendang is one of Indonesia traditional foods from Sumatra specially from Padang. This food become famous in the world because of its title as the most delicious food in the world. About 350.000 people in the world vote this food as the most delicious food in the world. 
     This food taste spicy like another Padang's food with Indonesian spices. In Indonesia, we can find rendang easily at the Padang restaurant. Of course, every restaurant have different spices for the rendang. Globally this food taste spicy and made from beef. Beef simmered with coconut milk and spices then steam for hours to make the beef tender. I suggest you to try this food, it's very delicious.

Komodo Dragon as Indonesia Icon

Komodo Dragon is one of the antique animals in the world. Komodo dragon looks like a big lizard and they grouped as carnivore. What make komodo dragon special ? It because komodo dragon can only find in Komodo National Park in Nusa Tenggara Timur, Indonesia. This national park consists of three big islands, they are Komodo Island, Rinca Island, and Padar Island. This national park used to protect the komodo dragon and their habitat. 

Many people in Indonesia try to make komodo dragon as 7 Wonders of Nature. They make many program and activities to promote komodo dragon in International world. Some of them are famous actors or actress in Indonesia. If the actor or actress can give a good habit to conserve the nature, why don't we do the same things ?
